Robert Woodthorpe Browne has been honoured as Founding Father to Africa Insurance Organization
The 27th June 2022 was noted this year, as Robert, Chair The Paddy Ashdown Forum, was honoured as the Founding Father of the Africa Insurance Organization on the 50th Anniversary since its foundation.
His career has been in reinsurance, working both as broker and underwriter, including Membership of Lloyd’s. Concentrating on the Third World, he founded the African Insurance Conference when working in Mauritius.
Robert noted that at the First Conference there had been no female delegates and several expatriates running African insurers. At the 50th Anniversary Conference in Nairobi “expatriates were history and about one third of the 2000 delegates were female insurance and reinsurance executives”
